About the talk

A Spanish-language talk for HR leaders on how AI changes work instead of erasing it. Jobs break down into tasks and get redesigned. The session used history as a guide: when the mechanical loom automated 98% of the labor in weaving cloth in the 19th century, factory weaving jobs grew, because cloth got cheaper and demand multiplied (James Bessen, Toil and Technology, IMF 2015).

What the room took away

  1. Jobs don’t disappear. They break down into tasks and get redesigned, and history shows this has always happened.

  2. What’s new with AI is the speed, and the transition has a human cost we have to plan for.

  3. Experience and know-how are what we keep, and some things AI can’t automate.

About the event
